We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with interest in systems biology to build tools for spatially resolved genomic profiling. As a Senior Software Engineer at Vizgen, you will work developing and optimizing software to enable the detection of biomolecules within their native tissue contexts, including software to control Vizgen’s automated imaging instrumentation. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to apply their software engineering expertise to help address key biological questions within a rapidly growing company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Rapidly build, prototype and test code with an appropriately high level of engineering and best coding practices
  • Build and optimize robust software for controlling Vizgen instrumentation
  • Establish tests and standards to ensure each software release for the instrument control software is sufficiently robust for production
  • Enable Vizgen instrument control software to elegantly recover from minor hardware errors and report informative diagnostics for severe hardware errors
  • Design and expose well tested APIs to other components in the software stack for efficient integration
  • Coordinate with hardware and wet lab teams to ensure software is efficiently addressing the scientific needs
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, computational biology or related computational field
  • 6+ years of experience building robust and responsive software
  • Experience working and deploying tools in local compute environments
  • Experience writing software for scientific instrumentation, including motor
  • Experience writing firmware is a plus
  • Fluent in python and other commonly used programming languages
  • Excellent communication skills with strong work ethic and motivation
