Job Summary

Resonance Medicine Inc. is seeking a Director of Protein Evolution Technology, who will be responsible for the establishment, oversight, and optimization of our bacteriophage-based protein evolution platform to discover human proteases with novel unprecedented specificity and selectivity. The successful candidate will lead a growing team of molecular biologists and biochemists to identify and characterize lead candidates for multiple programs. The individual will bring expertise in building teams, strategic decision making and the execution of phage-based protein or antibody discovery campaigns. Experience with laboratory automation is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead our discovery team to identify and optimize novel proteases using a phage-assisted evolution platform
  • Grow and supervise the discovery team, while implementing best laboratory practices to ensure reproducibility and scalability
  • Work collaboratively with peers to facilitate knowledge transfer between groups and enable innovative solutions
  • Explore novel technologies to complement and optimize discovery efforts
  • Define the screening strategy for protease programs and execute campaigns according to plan
  • Formulate the company’s discovery strategy and monitor progress towards strategic goal

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A PhD in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field with at least eight (8) years of post-graduate experience
  • Proven track record with directed protein evolution, antibody phage display, or yeast display is required
  • Experience leading a team of molecular biologists, protein engineers, and biochemists
  • Understanding of the biotherapeutic drug discovery process is required
  • Experience with proteases and/or enzyme kinetics is preferred
  • Highly adaptable, with the ability to innovate and work collaboratively
  • Excitement for working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse work environment
  • Impeccable verbal and written communications skills
  • An eager, proactive, and collaborative approach to each day; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support our scientific and business goals

  • In-person work is necessary for this position. We work in facilities that require all individuals working on-site to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
