Job Summary
The Senior/Principal Scientist – Protein Production will be responsible for design of constructs, expression, purification, and QC of our novel protease therapeutics and associated reagents from microbial or mammalian cell culture. This includes design and optimization of expression constructs, expression and purification of proteins from pilot to scale-up, and QC including analytical SEC, SDS-PAGE, endotoxin assessment, and other properties as needed.  Purification strategies may include size exclusion, affinity, ion-exchange, and other chromatography techniques using an AKTA FPLC system or other methods.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute protein production from construct design through expression, purification, and QC
• Manage junior team members supporting the protein production pipeline
• Work across team to maintain cells and reagents for protein production group
• Work collaboratively with teams within Research groups to prioritize efforts
• Generate data in a timely manner; lead discovery sub-teams; contribute/present at project meetings
• Assume additional responsibilities as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications
 

• A PhD in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field with at least four years of post-graduate experience or a BS/MS with at least eight years of relevant experience
• Experience with protein expression, primarily in bacterial systems, but also mammalian cells
• Strong track record of experience with protein purification using AKTA/FPLC-based chromatography and QC
• Highly adaptable, with the ability to innovate and work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize and deliver on tight timelines
• Impeccable verbal and written communications skills
• Highly organized, exceptional attention to detail, and strong proficiency in documentation skills
• Possesses an eager, proactive and collaborative approach to each day; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support our scientific and business goals
