Job Summary 

GentiBio is seeking a motivated Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist to join our exciting, fast-growing, and well-financed team to develop novel cell therapies for autoimmune diseases. Reporting to the Senior Director of Platform Engineering, the successful candidate will play an integral role in developing GentiBio’s viral vector platform to support production of EngTregs. This role offers exposure to multiple facets of an organizational and company build, leadership and technical growth, and ample opportunities to be a high-impact trailblazer in the emerging field of Treg-cell therapy.  

Job Responsibilities 

  • Foster the culture of seeking and giving help, inclusion, authenticity, and fun
  • Design and execute experimental workflows with an emphasis on viral vector-based deliverytechnologies 
  • Establish processes for lentiviral/AAV vector production and quality control
  • Lead the design of viral vectors and supervise their construction
  • Develop assays for characterizing and quantifying viral vectors using analytical methods, such as MSD, ddPCR, and FACS
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to support key research objectives and contribute to GentiBio’s vision and strategy
  • Work hands-on in the lab for the first 1-3 years, while developing a diverse and multidisciplinary team of 2-4 scientists and associate scientists
  • Continually cultivate technical expertise through critical review of the scientific literature, attending external conferences, and developing relationships with key opinion leaders

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • PhD in molecular biology, virology, or cell biology with 5+ years of relevant industry experience 
  • Strong viral vector background with a focus on lentiviral vectors and/or AAV technology 
  • Deep technical knowledge of virus production, purification, and titration
  • Working knowledge of QC and analytical methods with experience in cellular and molecular techniques, such as ddPCR and FACS
  • Familiarity with T-cell biology preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple people 
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication skills 
  • Flexibility to pivot from plan A to plan B 
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and focus on key deliverable
