Job Summary

GentiBio is seeking a motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join our vector production team and help advance platform engineering in support of GentiBio’s cell therapy programs. The successful candidate will report to the Senior/Principal Scientist leading the core and produce, purify, and analyze viruses and vectors to enable company-wide research activities. We are searching for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about working at the bench to advance programs and solve technical challenges. Job Responsibilities

  • Foster the culture of seeking and giving help, inclusion, authenticity, and fun
  • Prepare, purify, and QC small batches of lentiviruses or retroviruses
  • Determine virus titers and viral integration into cell lines and primary T cells
  • Coordinate with Platform and R&D teams to prioritize production and maintain virus records
  • Help establish protocols and research capabilities
  • Maintain electronic lab notebooks and communicate results to the scientific team
  • Work independently and collaborate with scientific colleagues in support of team goals

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS in virology, molecular biology or related field and 5+ years of relevant industry experience OR
  • MS in relevant field with 2+ years of industry experience 
  • Experience with virus culture, isolation, and quantification (LVV and RT preferred)
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, including plasmid/genomic DNA purification, primer design, cloning (e.g., traditional, Golden Gate, Gibson assembly), PCR, and gel electrophoresis
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection is preferred
  • Working knowledge of viral vector purification and ddPCR preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with an ability to embrace change and multi-task in a fast-growing environment
