Job Summary 

GentiBio is seeking a science-savvy, energetic business development professional to join our fast-growing team. The Senior Director/VP of Business Development is a key role for GentiBio. The successful candidate will identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage a broad spectrum of partnerships – from academic to complex collaboration agreements with pharma and biotech partners. External to Genti, the ideal candidate will be Genti’s initial ambassador to build strong relationships with future partners. Within Genti, the ideal candidate will work closely with the research, manufacturing, project management, finance, and legal teams to identify and implement relationships to expand Genti’s platform and therapeutic programs. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Partner with the CBO to chart a strategic path for partnerships to augment Genti’s Tregs platform and maximize development and commercial success of Genti’s pipeline programs  
  • Implement BD strategy by identifying and evaluating product development partnerships and new technologies 
  • Assess competitive landscape to give strategic and commercial context for potential partnerships  
  • Build internal support for selected partnerships, including presentations to the board 
  • Lead deal structuring and negotiations with partners through to deal execution 
  • Collaborate with Genti’s project management team and provide alliance management support to ensure the success of our partnerships 
  • Attend key partnering and therapeutic area conferences to develop contacts and monitor new scientific developments 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various potential partners, including pharma and biotech business development teams, academic institutions, and investigators 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field required; PhD or MBA and expertise in cell and gene therapy products strongly preferred 
  • 10+ years’ experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry with strong knowledge of the drug development process 
  • Minimum of 5 years in business development role with experience identifying, structuring, negotiating, and managing complex partnerships 
  • A keen business sense and thorough understanding of industry trends and competitive landscape 
  • Strong deal sheet showing successful negotiation of a broad range of deal structures 
  • Established network across biotech and pharma ecosystem 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to build internal support for business initiatives 
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills and proven ability to develop and present strategic plans to executive leadership 
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time (post-COVID restrictions)
