Summary:
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with Vizgen’s R&D and Product team members, the Head of Operations will develop and oversee processes to ensure Vizgen’s products are manufactured, tested, and distributed efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements. The Company is currently developing a spatial omics platform that includes reagents, instrumentation, and analysis software as part of its first commercial product launch. We are seeking an experienced head of operations with a strong track record of bringing new products to market from product definition to manufacturing and commercialization in both start-up and established company environments.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage operational functions for manufacturing and supply chain across the entire company product portfolio including production, logistics, procurement, inventory management, quality control, and facility management
  • Hire and manage an Operations team at a size appropriate to the Company’s stage of development that can manage the day-to-day activities
  • Lead activities with Vizgen’s R&D and Product teams, as well as external partners, to drive products to market
  • Select, qualify, and manage contract manufacturers and suppliers as part of the manufacturing and commercialization process
  • Develop and monitor supply agreements with external partners
  • Establish and manage production planning based on sales forecasts and demand planning
  • Develop logistics and distribution strategy and business processes for Vizgen’s products, including instrumentation, software, and reagents
  • Make quality-related decisions and implement effective solutions to troubleshoot issues related to testing and manufacturing Vizgen’s products
  • Establish work instructions and implementation procedures for product manufacturing
  • Develop documents and systems consistent with GLP and GMP standards for late stage manufacturing and commercialization
  • Ensure compliance of Vizgen’s products and operations with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations
  • Proactively forecast and design facilities to meet staff lab and business need
  • Develop strategies for procurement, maintenance, and support of laboratory equipment and reagents used for manufacturing
  • Ensure sufficient levels of inventory, while minimizing space impact and paying close attention to product shelf life
 
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of operations experience within the life sciences research or diagnostics industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific disciplines required; advanced degrees strongly preferred
  • Track record of successful products developed, manufactured, and commercialized in the life sciences research or diagnostics field
  • Excellent project/portfolio management skills
  • Product experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: bioimaging, genomics, sequencing, tissue sample preparation, FISH, IHC, oligonucleotide-based reagents, and fluorescent-based imaging
  • Experience in both start-up and large companies strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Enjoys working in entrepreneurial but collaborative team-oriented environment
  • Highly organized, disciplined, and efficient in meeting deliverables
  • Highly proficient in the use of business platform tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, project management tools, documentation control, and other relevant software applications
