Ascidian is located in Boston within the brand new SmartLabs facility at 40 Guest St. in Boston, MA.

We are seeking an Associate Scientist in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS),  to be based in our Boston-area location, who will:
  • Help to build the burgeoning Ascidian Boston genomics platform by establishing new NGS capabilities
  • Help to create and foster an entrepreneurial and creative culture that will deliver transformational therapies to patients
  • Design and execute NGS library prep for multiple gene therapy discovery programs
  • Balance quality and speed, working closely with other scientists to advance projects involving molecular cloning and cell-based assays
  • Perform independent data analysis and electronic notebook record keeping
  • Support the creation and expansion of the company’s intellectual property
General Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in a life sciences-related discipline with a minimum of 5-years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Expert in NGS library preparation and sequencing 
  • Passion for working at the bench to advance programs and solve technical challenges
  • Self-motivation and adaptability to evolving project priorities and responsibilities
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and driven and motivated by a team-oriented culture
Additional skills/experience beneficial, but not required:
  • Experimental skills in NGS library preparation and sequencing
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
Additional skills/experience beneficial, but not required:
  • Experience with viral and non-viral gene therapy drug discovery
  • Experience with RNA processing
  • Experience with high-throughput screening, including Massively Parallel Reporter Assays
